THE END OF AN ERA

(A farewell to Matt Parker)

After 13 years at the helm of the most recognizable brand in the world, Matt Parker has announced he’ll be stepping down as the CEO of Nike.

The reins will be passed down to another Nike board member, and CEO of ServiceNow, John Donahoe. According to Nike, Donahoe "will help propel Nike's digital transformation which has been a key element of Nike's business strategy."

In recent years, we've seen Nike dive deeper into direct-to-consumer offerings with the Nike and SNKRS apps. The success from digital offerings have been crystal clear. Nike's annual revenue is up to $39 billion in 2019, nearly double of what it was a decade ago. It's also clear that Nike is prepared to double down on digital offerings behind its new CEO.

During his 40-year stint at Nike, Parker has been heavily credited with developing Air technology and pushing the companies innovation through R&D. His efforts are exemplified by through Nike's 867 secured patents in 2018.

All we can say is bravo Matt... bravo.
